NLCS Game 2 - Phillies vs. Giants

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20101017&content_id=15678886&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

I went to the Phillies vs. Giants game last night at Citizens Bank Park, and it was the first National League Championship game that I've ever attended, and it was a complete blast! Oswalt was a lot different from the last playoff game that I saw him, he was sharp and on the top of his game. Ross hit another homer for the Giants, but Jimmy Rollins got a very clutch hit and put the game away for the Phillies. It was a very nice night and one that I'll remember for awhile now. These were the last tickets that I had for the 2010 season for the Phillies, so hopefully they can continue on this run and get back to the World Series!!

NLDS Game 2 - Phillies vs. Red

Last night, was truly insane and quite possibly one of the most bizarre baseball games that I've ever seen played. The crowd was electric, and while the Phillies were down early, they kept chipping away at the lead against the Reds. Chapman comes into the 7th inning and the whole entire thing fell apart for the Reds there. That 7th IP was insane, and I'll be the first to say, the TV on TBS does no justice to how truly loud it gets down CBP. It got so loud to the point where you have to yell and scream, just to talk to the person next to you. It was crazy, and I had a lot of fun. It was an amazing night. Here's some photos...

Fantasy Baseball Season RECAP - Part One

I've been meaning for awhile to post about the outcome that was the official second season of fantasy baseball for myself. If I could sum up my season in one word it would simply be..."disappointing".

I came into the league defending my championship from last season, and after April a lot of things just seemed to fall apart from an offensive standpoint. I didn't hit the long ball, I had the most brutal run producing lineup, and I had many many injuries that needed to be mended through the waiver wire. When I finally started getting offense in the second half of the season, my pitching completely tanked. I've never had pitching that bad, and to watch a lot of my pitchers go out there, and give up runs by the boatload was worst than the offensive woes of the first half. A lot of different things are the reasons for these problems. However, despite these grueling bumps, I was able to manage the team into the playoffs and gain the last seed.

The crazy part of the entire mess was I only lost by .007 AVG points to the champion ~ Brian. After the first round, Brian would go on to crush Frank and destroy Jay West in the championship match. I guess the only part that I can feel happy about myself is that I gave the champ his toughest match. But that still doesn't make me feel any better.

Another part of the puzzle that makes me disappointed is my overall record for the season. Which was:

(115-121-16) .488

I was under .500 which is for lack of a better word - terrible. Moreso when last season I was about 20 games over .500. Either way, if I didn't make the playoffs this would have been a season from hell.

Here's this team's overall league ranks in the following areas:

League Rank: (out of 10 teams)

R - 7th (783)
HR - 7th (191)
RBI - 8th (733)
BB - 1st (654)
SB - 4th (135)
AVG - 10th (.269)

K - 1st (1412)
W - 5th (101)
L - 10th (101)
SV - 2nd (129)
ERA - 9th (4.07)
WHIP - 10th (1.34)

I really don't understand why Andy didn't pick up a kicker. I didn't talk or see him the whole week at work or anything but I have no idea why he didn't pick up a kicker. I mean, he changed his team, because he had Garcon in on Sunday morning and changed it to Eddie Royal, which was big because Royal got 25 points and Garcon didn't even play. Andy's team started out hot, going 2-0 and being top five in the league in scoring but now he's dropped his last two and he didn't work the wire. I'm just confused.

Next week, I won't have Brady, so I planned ahead and claimed Mark Hot Dog. I still want to play Stafford (and I'll roll the dice and play him this week if he does indeed play). My record is now 3-1, which is good. Records don't matter that much in fantasy football, it's really all about making the playoffs and just getting hot. So hopefully my team continues playing hot and I can keep rolling.

Bounced back from last week's lose and got the win against Chris. I did get some breaks here and there but for the second time, I had to hold my butt on Monday night, and I was watching the Phillies more, so I didn't know the score was getting that close. Either way it was a good sign to get another win, and now the record stands at 2-1.

^ Buck's presser

I always work on Friday, but when I got news from Roch that the O's were holding a single admission doubleheader, I was 100% going to make the trip down to Camden Yards. I'm really glad that I made the trip too. It was a lot of fun and the O's won both games. The first game though was dead empty, I think there was only around 5-6,000 people, but it was a pretty cool baseball experience because it was quite and just pretty peaceful. Tillman and Guthrie both looked excellent in each game and I'm sure Buck will be thinking about that going into the off-season. I would still like the O's though to bring in another top of the rotation arm, not sure who it would be, but someone to anchor the rotation and give Guthrie number two status in the rotation for next season, because he did excellent in that role this season. I also didn't buy any grab bags this season for FA weekend but I did get to see two great Orioles win, for the last game that I went to for the season. That brings my 2010 season total of....5-3. Which is not bad, but I've seen better days!! ;-)

Overall the O's record stands at: 20 -4

Not too shabby!
