NLCS Game 2 - Phillies vs. Giants

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20101017&content_id=15678886&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

I went to the Phillies vs. Giants game last night at Citizens Bank Park, and it was the first National League Championship game that I've ever attended, and it was a complete blast! Oswalt was a lot different from the last playoff game that I saw him, he was sharp and on the top of his game. Ross hit another homer for the Giants, but Jimmy Rollins got a very clutch hit and put the game away for the Phillies. It was a very nice night and one that I'll remember for awhile now. These were the last tickets that I had for the 2010 season for the Phillies, so hopefully they can continue on this run and get back to the World Series!!

^ Buck's presser

I always work on Friday, but when I got news from Roch that the O's were holding a single admission doubleheader, I was 100% going to make the trip down to Camden Yards. I'm really glad that I made the trip too. It was a lot of fun and the O's won both games. The first game though was dead empty, I think there was only around 5-6,000 people, but it was a pretty cool baseball experience because it was quite and just pretty peaceful. Tillman and Guthrie both looked excellent in each game and I'm sure Buck will be thinking about that going into the off-season. I would still like the O's though to bring in another top of the rotation arm, not sure who it would be, but someone to anchor the rotation and give Guthrie number two status in the rotation for next season, because he did excellent in that role this season. I also didn't buy any grab bags this season for FA weekend but I did get to see two great Orioles win, for the last game that I went to for the season. That brings my 2010 season total of....5-3. Which is not bad, but I've seen better days!! ;-)

Overall the O's record stands at: 20 -4

Not too shabby!

No. 20 for Doc (Late Pass)

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100921&content_id=14915176&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

Super late pass right here! I've been so extremely busy with all the different fantasy baseball/football leagues that I forgot to update the blog here. I went to the Phillies vs. Braves game last week (game two of the series) and it was the last game of my ticket plan. Needless to say it was a lot of fun. DOC got his twenty win of the season against the Braves who have been ahead of us almost all season. The Phillies got the sweep, and just clinched the NL East title last night. We are truly in the Golden Age of Phillies baseball. I said goodbye to our good friends Mike and Megan who sat next to us all season. They were really great people and I loved talking to them during the games. Hopefully we get seats near them during the playoffs.

DOC Does It Again...

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100904&content_id=14278638&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

Went to the Phillies game last night to see DOC pitch again, and it was another nice night at the park. The Phillies won, ending that little losing streak that I was going through (two games) and it was one of the nicest nights that I had at the ballpark this season. The weather was just perfect and it was around 70 degrees with a nice breeze. I finally got around the buying the 2010 Yearbook and I also put my down payment on Post-Season tickets (IF we get there!!). It would be nice to see the Phils make the playoffs but the Braves are really making it hard, but we shall see what happens. The next game is this Monday, which I’m pretty sure is a dollar dog night.

Update: This Monday is the first week of the fantasy baseball playoffs. I barely clinched my spot Saturday night but I did make it back into the fold. I was the 6th team and final to make the push.

Update II: I’ll be posting my fantasy football team (even though his is a baseball blog, I want to post about other fantasy teams).

Happ vs. Halladay..What?

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100825&content_id=13914082&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

My first back-to-back games in a long time. I was very glad to see this match up of Happ vs. Halladay. Unfortunately though for the Phillies Happ and the Astros were the better team that night and they beat the Phillies. I really liked watching J.A. Happ when he was with us from the minors to his last start. He's going to be a great pitcher in the future and have a nice career, hopefully he does a lot of great things fro the Astros organization. But I was a little disappointed about going to two straight back-to-back loses. That cramps my style, but the bottom line is that the Phils are not hitting, and when we are not hitting, we are not going to win many games. Maybe we end our troubles on the road?

16 IP and the LFer Roy Oswalt

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100824&content_id=13862480&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

First off this was the longest game that I have ever been to, and it was the longest Phillies game ever played at CBP. This game was so insane, and originally I didn't have this game on my plan, but because it was Chooch's bobble head night, and since I love Chooch I got my tickets well ahead of time. I got SRO (Standing Room Only) and the game was a lot of fun, although I can't say the name for Scott Barry. Even though the Phillies lose this game, I'm very glad I went because it was probably the most strangest, but best lose that I ever attended. If that makes any sense. See Oswalt in LF and getting that fly-out was so priceless. God, I love baseball.

I found this picture on Google of the bobblehead. It's really cool and goes great with the Doc Halladay one.

Johan

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100807&content_id=13157428&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

Pretty late on this entry but I went to the Phillies/Mets game that was last week and it was a lot of fun. The Phillies lost, but Hamels pitched great, Johan just pitched better. It was a great night and the park was jumping amidst the great pitching duel. This was one of the first games that I've been to in awhile where the Phillies lost, but that's OK. They are not going to win every game I go too. Either way, I'm looking forward to the playoff push and the great baseball that the O's are playing under Buck.

I went to the Orioles game on Thursday when they won their third game under new manger Buck Showalter. It was also Nick's bobble-head night and now all the O's promotions on bobble-heads are over. This game was great and a lot of fun, I'm glad I went.

Long Layoff!

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100727&content_id=12678786&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

Went to the Phillies game last night, and it was another great game by the Phils. A lot of homers, some nice pitching mixed in between, and the best part was that the heat wasn't killer. It has been awhile since I've been to a game, but this was the next one on my season ticket package plan. So far, the Phils have been rolling on this plan, so that's always good. Dan Haren was suppose to pitch for the D-Backs but he got traded away over the weekend, so we got to see former Oriole/Phillie Rodrigo Lopez, who pitch decent last night, but got killed by the long ball. This was also the first time in 2010 that I got to see Cole Hamels pitch. That now makes the following Phils I've seen start this year...Doc, Hamels, KK, Blanton, Moyer. I'm just missing Happ.

Best Regular Season Game...Perhaps...!

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100709&content_id=12116736&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

Went to the Phillies game last night and it was probably one of the best regular season games that I've ever been to for the Philadelphia Phillies. I love Cody Ransom, I really wish they would play him a lot more. I know they are paying Dobbs good money and he got that three run blast last night, but that AB by Ransom was just amazing. As soon as Uncle Ben got that walk, I had this feeling that something crazy was going to happen and it sure did. The fireworks show after the game was also great. Overall just an amazing night last night, plus the O's came back and won in extras against the Rangers. Speaking of the Rangers they also got Lee last night, and I'm glad the Yankees didn't get him, because that would have been just terrible. Lee will face the O's tonight, I wonder how that will go?

Two Excellent Games!

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2010_06_30_oakmlb_balmlb_1&mode=preview

Forgot to post about this game, but real quick...it was a lot of fun and it was also Matt Wieters bobble head night. The O's won this game against the A's and against Ben Sheets. It was a lot of fun, and although Millwood pitched OK, he got his second win of the season! About time! It was very hot, but the seats were spacious and nice. Overall another fun game down at Camden Yards, and it was good to see the Orioles get the win.

(Note: For some odd reason, MLB.com did not write an article about this game, so I just posted the Gameday preview/box score card.)

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100705&content_id=11964436&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

Tonight (7/5/10) I went to the Phillies/Braves game. That was also a lot of fun and I got to watch one of the best pitchers pitch tonight - Doc Halladay. Aside from one mistake pitch to Chipper, Doc went the whole way and beat the Braves. Which mind you, the Phillies really needed. I just want to say though...THIS WAS THE HOTTEST BALLGAME I EVER WENT TO! It was around 100-110 during the game, and it was crazy hot with 45,500 people there. Insane!

Also to update my fantasy team real quick, my new record is 74-73-9. I'm starting to get back on track!!

Great Game

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100624&content_id=11549646&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=bal

Went to the Orioles game on Thursday for Adam Jones mini-bobble head night. Millwood didn't have his best stuff, but thankfully the Orioles bats were hot and hit around Nate Robertson. The O's bats are starting to hit nicely, and since it's so hot in Baltimore it should only help them more. Adam Jones has been doing great recently, and ever since Nick spoke out about the team, they have responded and been playing better, which is always positive. This was the best O's game I went to this year, and I hope the team keeps playing better. Three in a row tonight against the Nationals.

Wild One...

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100608&content_id=10958242&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

The game was wild, it was like a see-saw match. But it was a lot of fun, and it was great to see the Phils get the win. Mike Stanton looked great for the Marlins as well. It's late tonight and I wanted to post this, Blogspot seems to freeze a lot but maybe it's just me. Either win, a lot of fun at this game!

Almost Saw the No-Hitter

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100522&content_id=10323496&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

I went to the Phillies vs. Red Sox game on Saturday, and I almost saw baseball history. Dice-K almost threw the first no-hitter at Citizens Bank Park but Juan Castro broke up the bid in the 8th inning. The career 230 hitting Castro! Who would have thought!?

To be honest at first I was somewhat pulling for the no-no because I've never personally seen one in person, but we had several Red Sox fans in our section and they were beyond obnoxious, and during every single Phillie out they would stand up, cheer very loudly, and proceeded to talk a bunch of junk to the people around them; stuff like "Your team f*cking sucks", "Your city sucks" etc, etc. This is the second time I've watched the Red Sox play, and all three times the fans that have come into the seats have been terrible. Twice with the Phillies and once with the Orioles. They are generally worst down Camden Yards to boot, last year when I when to the Orioles and Red Sox game at Camden Yards, some random Sox fan tried stealing my program/score-card sheet because I went to get some soda and peanuts, I come back to my seats and his giving out my stuff to his family. Crazy! So with these fans in my section, I was pulling hard for the Phils to get that hit, and Juan Castro came through! THANK GOD!

Overall I'm probably not going to go to any more Sox games, I just get really pissed, and it stunk because the Phils almost got no-hit, luckly they didn't and spare us fans in the seats of seeing the home team get the ultimate embarrassment.

Second Phils Game...

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100518&content_id=10167962&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=phi

My second Phillies game of the season was one in which it was freezing out. It was about 38-45 degrees out and the wind chill was insane, unluckily for me I was way under dressed because I believed the hype that Six ABC was talking about how it would be "hoodie-type" weather. Boy they were way wrong. Either way though, despite the freezing weather, the game was a lot of fun! This was my first time seeing Roy Halladay pitch, and I must say, I was greatly impressed with everything he did. The man just knows how to pitch and he's completely old school in how he pitches, he refuses to come out, and he works the whole nine innings. Truly one of the best pitchers in the game right now, if not the best pitcher in the National League. I just love watching him, even better it was his bobble-head night. And I was able to get mine!

I got this picture from another website, but I'm keeping mine in the box as I usually do. I have every Phillies bobble-head from 2005 and up. So now I have another great one to my collection, plus I got SRO to the Carlos Ruiz bobble head in August!

Looking forward to more baseball!

Second Orioles Game...

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100515&content_id=10071126&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=bal

I went to the Orioles game yesterday, and despite the terrible blown save lost in the 9th inning, I had a lot of fun. Brian Matusz pitched great and my seats that I bought from the window were great as usual. This time I had section 69, row 4. Luke Scott, Hughes, Miggy, and Atkins were all signings autos before the game, but since I was so far on the opposite side of the first base line, I didn't bother to try to get any autos. Touching up on the game quickly, while the game itself was fun, watching Simon blow the game was absolutely terrible. DT made so many pitching changes prior to taking out Matusz and in my opinion, he really lost the game for the O's last night. Last year and years before that I always had this feeling when I went to the game, the Orioles would FIND a way to win the game, 2010 has been a different story altogether. Now I always feel that the O's FIND ways to lose the games, and I can't help shake the feeling that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. I was going to go on Monday to see Bergy pitch, but with the money situation there's no way I can go now. $17 in tolls, $25 in gas, $15 for parking, then $30 for tixs, that's not even counting food. I'm going to go to more games, but I think I'm going to stick to the bobble head nights or the bargain nights. Hopefully the O's can get better and start winning more games.

Speaking of bobble heads...this Tuesday is Roy Halladay bobble head night at CBP. With the Flyers playing it should be crazy, but I'm looking forward to it!

First Game of the Season

Yesterday was the first baseball game that I went to in the 2010 season, the Blue Jays vs. Orioles. I was looking over my schedule and noticed that there was no way I could attend any other games in April, so rather than wasting the entire month, I wanted to attend this game.

I really thought the O's would win this game, and seeing how I have a 15-1 record in attending O's game, I figure I would bring the team some luck. I was sadly mistaken. The O's have been getting excellent starting pitching, however their closer Mike Gonzalez has blown two games, and has really cause the club three games total. DH took the ball for the O's and looked excellent in his season debut, however bad luck was in store for David, because the O's bats could not give him one single run. I was very ticked off about that, but it happens in baseball. Kind of weird though how last year the issues were starting pitching and the ball pen, this season thus far has been the bats and the closer. Go figure.

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100410&content_id=9202950&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=bal

I also lost my six game beat the streak because I picked Nick. Oh well, going to have to restart the streak!

Here's DT presser after the game...
